Bananas are my fuel; in the morning, before a workout, and after my sweat sesh.
They give me a power up like none other. I take them every where, and if I run out, I stop by the grocery store or farmer's market, if applicable, to grab a bunch.
But sometimes I want something more. {Don't we all?}
I was in the car starving, but waited to get home before peeling back, when I thought about making a sandwich. I eat a lot of those. They're quick, easy, and extremely customizable.
Usually, I add peanut or almond butter, jam, and a banana.
Today I was feeling daring. I was thinking of how to add some spice and zing to my regular, old, monkey fuel.
How..how..BINGO!
After tasting a little chili powder, I decided that had nice flavor. What could I use to complement the chili powder?
Cinnamon! Now we have chili powder and cinnamon, but I also love chocolate.
How can I add chocolate flavor without adding tons of fat and calories?
Unsweetened cocoa powder!
So here's what we have:
Mexi-Nanner Banana Sandwich
Serves 1
- 2 slices Alpine Valley Multi-Grain w/Omega-3 Bread {or bread of choice}, toasted
- Almond butter {I used 2 teaspoons}
- 1 Banana
- Chili powder
- Cinnamon
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
Top, slice in half, and eat!
It started out as a feeling..
...Which then grew into brilliance.
