The free version is a quick overview of ABC's and 123's. They don't give you much, just an exciting taste of what's to come in the paid version. You expect that when you pay, there won't be any more ads.
This is the paid version of the app. There are still ads in both the kid's play area and also in the parent corner. I'm not sure why, but it's a bit frustrating to constantly get bombarded with "buy me, buy me, buy me" when you just paid $10 {1/2 price from the suggested retail}.
I will say, the more you play, the better it gets. The games/worksheets don't change, but I find my daughter gravitating back toward this app, even after getting frustrated with the tracing part and only getting fireflies as rewards. I thought it was better geared toward children ages 2-4, but I've witnessed my own 5-year-old like to play.
We both have difficulty with the tracing parts {which is 90% of the app}. My advice for the developers would be to do an animated tracing guide first and then let the user trace. It's not always easy to determine the start point, and the direction required. Those little arrows are small. My girl gets upset because when she's trying her best and nothing's happening, the app tells her "It's EASY". That's not helpful.
