Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village 2012
BeckyCharms & Family - First time
The Tree Lighting was originally scheduled for 6:45pm, but after all delays, it finally happened about 7:30-7:45ish. It was really fun, counting down in both Italian and English.
Just imagine the colors..
San Diego has a gazillion little communities, and this is definitely one of the best ones! I don't know anyone who visits Little Italy in San Diego who doesn't have a wonderful time. Just strolling the streets and seeing the shops and lights is enough to brighten your dullest day.
Charming Mercato reusable insulated bags for purchase.
The Little Italy Association {http://www.littleitalysd.com/} was handing out complimentary Italian cookies, coffee, and cider to attendees. I thought this was an extra special touch! Thank you! They were delicious enjoyed with a cup of warm apple cider while enjoying the festivities.
This is one of three Original Train Cars from John D. Spreckels {1853-1926}
Can you see my striped scarf? I only wear it, like, practically everywhere.
After hours of fun seeing Santa, making new friends in line, enjoying Italian delights, live music and the Mercato, chicken and beef tamales, agua de sandÃa, pistachio macaron, gourmet almonds {our faves are the honey vanilla, and mexican chocolate}, and watching the Tree Lighting, it was time to head home... but not without one final sweet shot of TinyBaker with her Bubbe. Love.
