Look at that cake! It's my special birthday party cake made for me by my little sweetie pie... out of dirt! I let her play outside in the backyard and she spends her time creating things especially for me. Aww, my heart melts.
Do I always want to get up off my lazy bottom and walk out there to find out what my next pretend meal will be or what kind of dead bug she's found and treasured? No, but if I hadn't: a. I never would've seen this beautiful creation, and b. I would have CRUSHED her spirit, and just that thought could make me bawl for days because there are very few things that I can think of that would be worse than extinguishing this sweet child's spirit. She has a contagious smile and exuberant personality. She is growing up without insults, put-downs, and peer criticism. She's free to dance however she wants to, and all she feels is unconditional love. God bless her soul.
I was so surprised to see this little dirt cake, with all its flowers and leaves carefully and strategically placed on top. She made this, with her two hands, just for me. Thank you, baby!
Then she wanted one {e.g. a cake}. How did I do? {see above photo} I added some fresh mint. It was very aromatic.. good thing the neighbor's cat poop didn't make it into the ingredients. Sometimes we get some by surprise. Ohhhh, joy. It smells too, but not good.
Make a wish and blow out your "candles"!
I've learned to let her pick the flowers, as long as they are in OUR yard.. she just loves them.
Don't you admire and desire the innocent free spirit that comes from these tiny people?
I believe she has a future in cake decorating..
